The great poet Kalidasa has written in the fifth canto of KumaraSambhavam that ‘body is the first means of accomplishing duty’. This means even if a man has lots of things with him, but if he has no healthy physique all these things are useless.
Man has to make many efforts to keep himself healthy. One of them is the day-to-day routine.
If a day-to-day routine is good, health remains good. The age-old learned of Ayurveda and modern well-known scholars of Medical science unanimously agree to this point.
The ideal day-to-day routine of a man is presented here. This day-to-day routine does not include only the habit of eating-drinking, standing-sitting, walking-sleeping etc, but virtues like the company of a good person, respect towards elders, hard-working for acquiring knowledge, sticking to the truth, etc., which are believed to be moral ideals of human life. The study of imperative forms used in the lesson and the meaning expressed by them is also expected.
Kalidasa was a classic Sanskrit poet. His plays and poetry are mainly based on the Vedas and so many ancient scriptures like Ramayana, Mahabharata. His surviving work consists of three plays (Nataka), two poems (Maha Kavyas), and two shorter poems (Khanda Kavya).

So many scholars have written commentaries on the works of the Kalidasa. A very popular poet Gothe has quoted "Here the poet seems to be in the height of his talent in the representation of the natural order, of the finest mode of life, of the purest moral endeavor, of the most worthy sovereign, and of the soberest divine meditation; still, he remains in such a manner the lord and master of his creation."
In this lesson, we will learn about the best daily routine. The name of this lesson is Svasthavruttam Samachara it means Follow a healthy daily routine. One should follow a good and healthy daily routine. In this lesson, there are eight shlokas which indicate how to live and follow a good and healthy schedule.
A father tells his son how to live a good and healthy life. And first of all, he tells us to get up as much as early in the morning. And then one should do meditation for at least five to ten minutes.
In the second shloka, he tells that After completing the meditation go to the toilet and complete it then wash your hands with soap. And then do some exercises for the healthy body.
In the third shloka, he tells that after completing Exercises massage your body with oil and then go for the bath. Also, he tells his son that wash your clothes yourself.
Tn the fourth shloka, he tells that after completing bath and cloth washing, do Sandhya Vidhi (a kind of Prayer) and then bow down to your elders. and then only one should take breakfast.
In the fifth shloka, the father tells his son that after completing your breakfast, go to the school with your friends. And study there seriously.
Thus, the father orders his son how to live a good and healthy daily routine.
In the next shloka, the father gives good Upadesha to his son that never lives with bad persons or friends. Always be with good friends and do Bhajan at day or night.
He also tells that Never give any answer quickly, always think for a while, and then only one should give the answer to any questions. And take good things and good lessons even from your enemy but never take bad things even from your teachers of parents or any close relative too.
Our goal should be clear and about to achieve a Sanatan Brahma, Do not think on the curse which has not come yet, think about the present moment only. And be good with all and serve the society with good vibes.
